Our September Newsletter is here!
One of the most meaningful moments of August in Polidore Civics was a role-playing exercise that asked participants to do more than defend an opinion: to genuinely step into someone else’s shoes. By researching and representing public figures with very different perspectives, they practiced empathy, critical thinking, and the ability to understand the values and concerns behind another person’s position.
The exercise revealed something especially important: people who appear to be opposites may sometimes share more common ground than we expect. The exchange between Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo and Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, Bad Bunny became a powerful example of how looking beyond labels can uncover unexpected points of connection. As the 3rd edition of Polidore Civics enters its final month in September, this experience reflects a central lesson of civic leadership: understanding others is the first step toward meaningful dialogue and common ground.
